The Washtenaw County Conservation District staff has expertise to assist landowners with the conservation and management of their natural resources. The Conservation District is assisted by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Dennis Rice, Executive Director
Dennis is Executive Director, and has been with the District since July, 1981. He supervises technical and other staff; oversees, administers and implements the programs and activities identified by the Board of Directors. Dennis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources, from The University of Michigan. (dennis.rice@mi.nacdnet.net)
Andy Henriksen, Forester
Andy provides assistance with both rural and urban forestry in Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties. Andy works out of the Washtenaw Conservation District office and has been with the District since October, 1997 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Michigan Technological University. Amy Gilhouse, Groundwater Technician
Amy is the Groundwater Technician for Lenawee, Monroe and Washtenaw Counties. She assists farmers with groundwater protection assessments and cost share for groundwater protection practices through the Groundwater Stewardship Program. Fred Schettenhelm, Equipment Manager
Fred schedules rentals of tractor-drawn tree planter machines for planting of tree seedlings. Fred can be reached at (734) 439-1829.
Steve Olds, NRCS District Conservationist
