Improving Nutrient ManagementThe Institute of Water Research at Michigan State University is excited to announce that it will be offering FREE anonymous tile line sampling opportunities throughout critical areas within Michigan’s portion of the Western Lake Erie Basin. Enrollment will be determined after a short visit to your farm with a local conservation technician. Since 2016, this program has provided participants with water quality reports, allowing them to track nitrate, phosphorus, and flow from their tile lines throughout the year.
This is a useful tool for producers looking to learn more about conservation performance or deciding whether additional practices might be needed on their farm. To be eligible, your tile line outlet must be easily accessible by vehicle or walking a short distance. This tile will be visited approximately twice a month, based on rainfall events. Additionally, a confidentiality agreement will be provided to ensure participants’ data is protected and cannot be traced to the farm it was collected from. |
